For me, i don’t really want to know my future.  I want to plan it.  I want to build the future i am desiring to have.  But, as we know, not all plans worked well.  Some of them are bound to fail miserably, while some are bound to shine graciously.

Well, i heard this sentence quite often, “the planning will be way more pleasant than the real deal”, and i cherish every single moment of my planning.  When i have to actually do my thing to make my plan comes true, i might have to struggle so hard i will forget to enjoy it.  But hey, who cares?  As long as we are making each moment counts, nothing else really matters.

I have had some bad things in the past, some of them would even be better left untold.  To reach the future, one can only wish.  And a wishful thinking might lead you into one of two choices, a graceful happiness, or a painful regret.

There are always choices in this world, but the problem is, “can you pick the right one?”

Future is not for us to see, but to hope upon, and to make real.

I’m making another CD, a project with my band “DREI”, and it is going to be launched soon enough.

i’m planning another CD, almost the exact same with this CD “Tale of a Name” i’m currently producing, BUT with a band version music.

Anyway, to sum it up:

Ted terlambat ke airport karena dia harus datang ke pengadilan, disidang karena melompati gerbang tiket kereta untuk menyelamatkan Barney.  Barney minta diselamatkan dari kereta karena dia tidak bisa bergerak setelah menyelesaikan New York City Marathon, yang diikutinya untuk menggantikan Marshall yang patah tulang.  Marshall patah tulang karena kaget Robin masuk ke kamar mandi saat Marshall sedang di dalam.  Robin masuk ke kamar mandi Marshall karena dia menginap setelah menemani Lily menginap untuk sale gaun pengantin.  Sale itu dilihat Ted dan Robin saat mereka berjalan pulang dari kios makanan, yang dibeli Ted dengan uang hasil penjualan koin kuno yang ditemukannya di subway.  Semuanya menyambung, bukan?

Dan tentu saja, seperti siapapun yang sedang di dalam keadaan itu, Ted “berandai-andai”.  ”Andai saja gw ga menemukan koin kuno itu”, atau “Andai saja Robin mengetuk pintu dulu sebelum ke kamar mandi”, atau apalah.  Yah, seperti semua post blog gw sebelum ini, hal ini membuat gw berpikir.  Dengan segala macam keunikan dan keanehannya, semesta membuat gw berada di sini, saat ini, dengan keadaan seperti ini.  Dan, masa lalu sudah tidak akan bisa diubah.

Gw bisa saja bilang “andai saja dulu gw nggak jatuh dan cedera, mungkin gw masih rutin latihan basket dan voli, dan nggak segendut sekarang”, atau “andai saja dulu gw belajar lebih serius, mungkin gw bisa bikin skripsi yang lebih bagus, dan gw di-hire perusahaan IT terkemuka”, atau apalah.  Tapi, dengan keadaan gw yang sekarang, gw sudah merasa sangat bersyukur.  Mungkin kalau dulu gw di-hire perusahaan IT terkemuka, gw nggak punya waktu untuk belajar banyak, dan berteman dengan teman-teman gw sekarang.  Atau mungkin, kalau gw nggak segendut sekarang, mungkin gw malah lebih fokus ke olahraga dibanding ke pelajaran, dan gw lebih mungkin untuk cedera makin parah, misalnya.

Inilah yang gw maksud “what if”.  Kita hanya bisa mengandaikan, tetapi semuanya sudah lewat, sudah nggak bisa diubah.  Yang bisa kita lakukan sekarang, hanya berusaha sebisa kita untuk tidak lagi membuat keputusan yang salah untuk membentuk kita di masa depan.  Gw nggak akan munafik.  Ada beberapa keputusan gw di masa lalu yang sangat gw sesalkan, dan gw memang beneran menyesal.  Tapi, apa gunanya menyesal sedemikian lama?  Apa akan disesali seterusnya?  Well, to quote one of my favorite quote “pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again”.  Setiap kegagalan memberi kita tanda bahwa “you can do this, but just not now”.

This is a follow-up post for that one, and this is going to be an announcement, that…..

The recording is done! And i have a master CD ready to be copied, and… *ahem* sold. :p

So, as i said in the previous post, there will be a design competition, and this is how it’s going to be.

1.  The CD is going to be titled “Tale of a Name” with the tagline “Each name has a story..”

2.  The CD is going to consist of three items, the CD, the cover, and a booklet for lyrics

3.  The booklet is the one we will be competing about.

But anyway, that is not my main point.  The main point of this post is a follow up on that.  Well here we go, *drumroll*

I’m making a (mini) album on a CD!!

This is so exciting for me, even though it might not be that exciting for you. haha.  Anyway, this CD is going to be titled “Tale of a Name”, and in fact i have been finishing the recording session of it.  So… there is going to be some follow up posts after this, stay tuned if you are interested.

The CD is going to consist of about 6-10 songs (yes, all are my original songs, as i posted on my facebook account, usually), and will be sold on about 35-50k IDR of price range.

So, i will be really happy if you would like to participate in my CD.  There are going to be at least three ways of participating.  As follows:

1.  CD Booklet Design Competition, with the prize of a free CD, i guess… :p (announced SOON!)

2.  ”Name – Story” Competition, well this one is without a prize, but your name is going to be on the CD! :p (announced SOON!)

3.  Buying the CD :p (*ehem* announced SOON! :p)

The CD is hopefully finished by the end of this month. Need your prayers and supports, friends.

Pernah ingat yang namanya rumus “5W+1H” di jurnalistik?  Enam kata tanya yang membentuk sebuah berita dari jawaban-jawabannya.  Menurut gw pribadi, Why adalah yang paling susah dijawab.  Kalau ada pertanyaan “Siapa presiden kita sekarang?” Ada jawaban faktual, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.  Kalau ada pertanyaan “Di mana tugu Monas terletak?”  Ada jawaban faktual, di Jakarta.  Tapi, pertanyaan “kenapa?” (atau “mengapa?”) itu tidak selalu memiliki jawaban faktual.  Note the diction “TIDAK SELALU”.  Terkadang, jawaban dari pertanyaan “mengapa?” semudah hubungan aksi-reaksi.  ”Mengapa mobil itu maju?  Karena didorong dari belakang.”  Tapi, tidak selalu demikian.

Ketika gw menulis blog post ini, keadaan kamar gw gelap, cuma cahaya dari laptop yang menjadi satu-satunya sumber penerangan, dan layar ponsel gw yang kadang-kadang menyala, kalau ada pesan masuk.   Dan saat ini, jam 10.45 malam, gw masih nggak bisa menjawab pertanyaan “kenapa gw jadi seperti sekarang?”  Karena gw nggak tau jawabannya.  Terlalu banyak variabel dan faktor yang bisa menjadi bagian dari jawaban tersebut.  Gw tiba-tiba mikir seperti ini, cuma karena iTunes gw memutar lagu-lagu dari zaman baheula, dan ingatan gw melayang-layang ke masa lalu gw.

Dulu, gw cuma bocah ingusan (ya, secara metaforik, bukan beneran ingusan) yang cuma kepikiran main, senang-senang, dan jalan-jalan.  Nggak pernah sekalipun gw berpikir bahwa gw akan menjadi gw yang sekarang.  Gw masih suka main, senang-senang, dan jalan-jalan, tetapi, sudah ada yang berbeda.  Paling nggak, sekarang gw sudah lebih memikirkan masa depan dibanding gw tahun 2005, misalnya.   Cara gw berlaku, bertindak, dan menanggapi segala macam hal, juga sudah berbeda.  Dan, gw nggak tahu, sejak kapan, dan kenapa, gw berubah menjadi seperti sekarang.

Tapi, terkadang, that’s how life works.  We don’t even know why, things just happened.  Dan kita, nggak perlu cari tahu tentang sebabnya.  Fokus saja, lihat ke depan, lihat “apa yang bisa kita capai sekarang, karena kita sudah di sini?”  Atau bahasa Inggrisnya “now that we’re here, what can we gain?  What can we achieve?”  (ya, gw lebih bisa menggunakan ekspresi ini dalam bahasa Inggris, maaf).  Ketika kita bersikukuh mencari penyebabnya, bukan tidak mungkin kita kehilangan kesempatan yang sudah di depan mata sekalipun.  Suatu saat, ketika semua sudah lebih baik, mungkin jawaban dari pertanyaan “Kenapa?” tersebut akan menunjukkan dirinya sendiri, dan menjadi bahan tertawaan kita “ternyata cuma begini?”

But anyway, i’m not going to talk about him.  Cuma saja, salah satu lagunya, judulnya “OK, It’s Alright With Me”, adalah salah satu lagu yang paling gw jadikan pegangan.  Liriknya “deep” banget.  Haha.

Intinya adalah bagaimana kita bersikap terhadap segala sesuatu.  Dan di lagu ini, si Eric memutuskan untuk menerapkan mentalitas “Ok, It’s Alright With Me”, yaitu sikap yang asertif, atau bahasa jawanya “Nrimo”.  Seperti “pasrah”, tapi beda.  Kalau pasrah, kita murni menyerahkan semuanya kepada siapapun yang pegang kuasa, dan kita tidak punya kendali apapun.  Tapi sikap “alrighty” ini menurut gw lebih ke sikap yang adaptif.  Mungkin sikap seperti inilah yang seharusnya kita ambil dan terapkan.

Terkadang, ketika kita menemukan hal yang berbeda atau tidak sesuai dengan keinginan kita, sikap kita adalah melawan, dan melakukan berbagai usaha yang keras dan mungkin melukai diri kita sendiri.  Padahal ternyata, kita bias mengikuti arus tersebut, sambil tetap “aware” dengan keadaan.  Mungkin ilustrasinya begini.  Kalau kita terhanyut di sungai, berarus deras, apa yang kita lakukan?  Apakah kita melawan arus?  Tentu nggak.  Kalau kita nekad melawan arus, kita malah akan kecapekan, dan nggak bisa berbuat apa-apa, tinggal tunggu waktu aja sampai ketemu sang Maha Kuasa (amit2, ketok2 meja 3 kali).  Seharusnya, kita ikutin aja arus, sambil lihat sekitar, ada nggak sesuatu yang bisa dilakukan, atau digunakan untuk menyelamatkan diri.  Misalnya ada batang kayu, pohon, atau apalah.  Harusnya begitu, ya nggak sih?

Gw pribadi, belum berhasil sepenuhnya menerapkan hal itu.  Yang gw lakukan ketika ada hal yang tidak sesuai, mungkin kayak anak kecil yang mau diculik, meronta-ronta sekuatnya, sebisa gw, sampai akhirnya kehabisan tenaga sendiri, karena memang kalah kuat.  Setidaknya, sekarang gw sedang berusaha ke arah sana.

Semakin gw bertambah usia, semakin gw mencoba bertambah dewasa, masalah yang muncul semakin keras, semakin berat, dan semakin menguras waktu dan tenaga.  Tapi ternyata, ketika gw berusaha menerapkan mentalitas “alrighty” ini, jadi nggak terlalu kerasa.  Haha.  Sometimes, what you need to do is not necessarily a full power of effort.  Sometimes, all you have to do is staying alive, and wait for the best opportunity to come towards you.  Tapi mungkin, masalah percintaan, dapat kita ekslusifkan dari pernyataan ini.  Oh well, tapi itu cerita lain.

Berhubung cermin di rumah dan di kamar kos gw cukup besar, gw bisa melihat dengan sangat jelas bahwa badan gw sudah semakin subur dan lebar.  Didukung dengan keinginan luhur untuk membeli sesuatu pada bulan ini (atau bulan depan), maka gw memutuskan untuk mengkombinasikan kedua kesempatan ini menjadi satu event, menantang diri saya sendiri untuk mengurangi makan dan menguruskan perut!

Hari ini, berat gw tercatat 103 kg, kita lihat kelanjutannya.

Now since the song “Made My Day” is “completely launched” (download link, lyrics, short story, and even video clip), i guess it is okay to blog the story behind that song.. (it is going to be in English, so my overseas friends can understand, too :p)

1st of all, i made this song back when i was in Melbourne, Australia, finishing my exchange study.  At that time i am about 2-3 weeks of going home to Indonesia, because my scholarship is only set for six months.  Well, i got offered the chance to continue for another six months, but i will have to cope on my own money, because the government aren’t willing to pay for more than the tuition fee.

But, the problem is, at that time i was falling in love with this one girl i met there.  An Indonesian girl, let’s call her…… “Girl” (the name is hidden, for her own safety :p).  I even made a song for her, titled “Not Just Beautiful“, telling how she is not just beautiful, but she also makes everything wonderful.  Well, that was then, when i still fell for her (apparently, i moved on, and she did, too :p)

So, i was pretty confused, i want to stay, especially because of her.  Why?  Because if i go home without having any kind of commitment or relationship with Girl, we will be nothing.  LDR is a hard thing already, what happen if it is only LDF (long distance friendship)?  How can i ever move it up a notch?  So, this song is made to show how much she meant to me, and how she made my day, and how i want to stay because of her.  And, this song, took some notes and lyrics from the song “Not Just Beautiful” that i mentioned before.  I stayed for another six months, finally.

Okay, that’s the story.  Now let’s continue to the song.

The song was not initially like this, the first time i made the song “Made My Day”, it’s longer than this, because the words are being prolonged.  I have a recorded version of it in my facebook, i called it “Made My Day (Slow Version)” . Then, that song stirred some comments in facebook, and i’m quite happy of it.  Later on, i met these guys, Aldo Rumantir, Anthony Jolen, and Andrew Jonathan.  They are about to make an indie label for IndoMelbournian singer-songwriter (they are all awesome, btw).  I talked a lot to them about music, and we became good friends.  One night, on 11th of October 2009, i stayed overnight at Anthony’s place, and recorded my first “upbeat version” of Made My Day, so let’s call it “Made My Day (Upbeat Snippet)“.  That is the birth of the current version of Made My Day. Not so later on, at 3rd of November 2009, i stayed overnight at Aldo’s, and we decided to try to record the song.  The new one.  And that night, the song “Made My Day (DEMO)” was done, plus a super cool version with Aldo’s voice in it, you can DOWNLOAD IT HERE!  That was the story of the song… In Melbourne. Back in Jakarta, some weeks later, i recorded the version that you are currently listening, in the house of Endi Daniyanto (@endidaniyanto).  He is a total cool producer + music director, and this song, after got his touch, became so awesome, i don’t even want to record another version just yet.  Yes, it’s been two years, since 2010, and this song stays the same, i haven’t recorded any other version of this song.  It is THAT good for me.

The song has undergone 27 months of age since its first idea, and it took 14 months before it became the current version.  And the current version is already 18 months old.  Such an old song, isn’t it? haha.
